Sheriff Joe Fires Back - "Now it's time to take the gloves off."
2010-09-03
The following is an official statement by Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio regarding today's lawsuit filed against his office by the U.S. Justice Department in Washington, D.C. for alleged refusal to turn over documents. It is followed by another statement from his Washington, D.C. attorney, Bob Driscoll.

"The Obama administration has filed three lawsuits against Arizona in the last few weeks ... one against a college district, one against the state of Arizona and now one against my office. Each lawsuit centers on something to do with alleged racial discrimination.

These actions make it abundantly clear that Arizona, including this Sheriff, IS Washington's new whipping boy. Now it's time to take the gloves off.

As for today's lawsuit against my office: These people in Washington met with my attorneys only a few days ago. And in that meeting, Washington got our cooperation; they admitted they already have thousands of pages of the requested documents; and they were given access to interview my staff and get into my jails.

They smiled in our faces and then stabbed us in the back with this lawsuit. The Obama administration intended to sue us all along, no matter what we did to try to avert it. Washington isn't playing fair and it's time Americans everywhere wake up and see this administration for what it really is. Calculating, underhanded at times and certainly not looking out for the best interests of the legal citizens residing in this country."

#26  Setting back race relations 150 years if we impeach Obama? Honestly, people who would be offended for impeaching such a traitorous president who happens to be black should just go kill themselves. Its not like we've had a female CIC, and yet, the females aren't being the bitchy little girls.

#25  From Uncle Phester's link:

And on Thursday the Justice Department filed suit against the Maricopa County Sheriff's office, run by the flamboyant Joe Arpaio

Flamboyant?

#24  It's legit. Put it up and we'll find out.

#23  Don't know if this is thread-worthy or not:

New evidence undermines feds' case against Arizona:

#22  I agree with Secret Asian, it is time to get rid of the Hyphenated Americans. They were a threat in Teddy Roosevelt's time and they are a threat now : the old Biblical injunction about serving two masters comes to mind. You are either an American or not, when you hyphenate it, you are proclaiming your primary loyalty by listing it first.

I strongly disagree. One of the biggest problems in this country has been the decades long pandering to ethnic minorities...especially the Black minority.

Obama should be held up in front of the Nation and his crimes...yes CRIMES exposed in detail. If this shames or embarrasses, too bad. It is way past time to end all protected status for so-called victim groups.

The Blacks and other minorities need to be given a choice, they can be Americans first, and their ethnicity be irrelevant. Or, they can hold themselves separate and accept segregation, their choice.

On of my Indian (Asian) associates has shared with me that the Indian diaspora in this country hates blacks with a passion for their incessant playing of the race card. This from a man whose skin is as dark or darker than most African ethnics.

Impeach this treasonous bastard, and throw him out on his ear. A President Biden could be muzzled and leashed quite effectively by a Republican controlled house. Hell...impeach his ass too.

#20  I would not be in favor of impeachment and conviction despite there being a good argument for. Can you imagine the uproar that would occur in this country? The first black president gets impeached. I am not a fan of Obama. He is an arrogant left-wing, narcissistic idealogue who thinks he knows what is best for everyone. He has set this country back on its heels. He has shown racism and created deviseness where none existed. He has put the country in debt forever. He is a statist. The crowd around him is a deplorable bunch of 60's or latter day radicals; know-it-alls who seem to be enamored with themselves and have little real regard for the country.

However, if he were impeached it would be viewed as a lynching by the black community. It would create a wound that would not be healed for another 150 years. Better to tie him up for the next two years, and dump him out in 2012 as a one-term president.

#19  "and eating baloney"

I dunno if that would work for them, BigEd - they're already full of it.

#18  gorb - Haven't been around much recently, but Boston T looks like a troll... ignore him.... If we were to get THE ONE and his sycophant Holder on trial and incarcerated for high crimes and misdemeanors, send them to AZ.....might be cool to see them in some of Sheriff Joe's pink undies.... and eating baloney...

#17  Arrest and openly execute Sheriff Arpiao for his disobedience and defiance of the federal laws that subject us all.

If we did that, we'd have to execute anyone who thinks Obamacare is a good thing. Somehow, I think this might include you.

#16  Ran across an article someplace this am (sorry, no link) that says the Sheriff's office was reviewed by ICE and found to be in compliance with Fed guidelines. The only way they got a copy of the report was thru an FOIA request.

Also, methinks the Fed suit against the state immigration law has a fatal flaw (if flaw it is). If the state is not legally able to inforce Federal immigration law, does it not follow that they are not legally able/required to inforce any Fed law?

#15  Darth "With some nice corruption charges in there, I doubt he will make it his entire term without being impeached if the Republicans win both houses."

Oh Yeah... say it with me now: President of the United States of America Joseph Biden. At least Pelosi won't be third in line any more. Small comfort that what with Biden still as VP. Better to send a series of pro taxcut/pro jobs bills to the WH and have "president no" veto each and every one over the next two years. It'll make for a nice lead in to 2012.

Recloaking

#14  a tyrannical and corrupt government in Washington exemplified by an AG that refuses congressional summons to his DOJ Civil Rights attorneys and drops a slam-dunk case of voter intimidation. Sheriff Joe has my support, and it's "tea party", D-bag

#12  How long before the DOJ feels the need to remove Sheriff Joe and the Governor because of rumors of crimes? /tinfoil hat

Sheriff Joe's department auxillary may number in the hundreds or even thousands. Bring it ON! Let us settle this communist bullshi* here and now!
Posted by: Besoeker   2010-09-03 11:59

#11  I seem to remember this same behavior in the Clinton administration. Waco ring a bell? After the gunfire, death, and destruction they could not corroborate any of the so called charges. THEY DID NOT NEED TO STORM THE COMPOUND. They could have shut of the light/water/food and let them surrender. I see this coming on a grander scale in Arizona. How long before the DOJ feels the need to remove Sheriff Joe and the Governor because of rumors of crimes? /tinfoil hat

#10  Come on OS, we never hung Jeff Davis from a sour Apple Tree. That was even after a lot of blood spilling. Only makes him a martyr for those who took his mark. As the old saying goes, everyone is good for something if only as a bad example to avoid what not to do in the future. He should pine much more along the dramatized curse of King Leonidas: "You there, Ephialtes. May you live forever."

#9  Obama needs to be removed from office, tried for treason, and summarily executed.
Posted by: OldSpook   2010-09-03 10:45

#8  Joe might start by publicizing every single case of violence involving illegal aliens and then start asking for appropriate federal action and/or help. And when it doesn't come, that's not going to buy the Obean administration any votes. And if Obean actually does his job, that will bolster Joe's case. Lose/lose for Obean.

#7  I donÂ’t see a downside for Arpaio on this one. If the DoJ had the goods on him he wouldÂ’ve already been charged. The Feds are fishing and oleÂ’ JoeÂ’s got a rusty soup can ready to hook on the end of their line.
Posted by: DepotGuy   2010-09-03 09:45

#6  Obama has already done many things that violate his oath of office. With some nice corruption charges in there, I doubt he will make it his entire term without being impeached if the Republicans win both houses.

#5  If the Republicans (and the Tea Party--I should say America) wins the House and maybe the Senate, it looks like the BHO administration is going to be sent on a lot of paper chases. What goes around comes around. I see Congressional hearings in their future. Maybe some of that smarmy arrogance of Pelosi, Reid, BO, Weiner, Schumer, and others will disappear. Maybe their disdain for fellow Americans will change.
Posted by: JohnQC   2010-09-03 08:58

#4  I hope Joe is also keeping good records of the names of the legal thugs engaged in all this so that the House can have them lie testify before them for the record.
Posted by: Procopius2k   2010-09-03 08:23

#3  ...and they were given access to interview my staff and get into my jails. Can you not just keep em for awhile and cool em off Joe? This is just harassment from DOJ at BHO's direction. For some reason they don't seem to have enough to do. They mistakenly believe in waging this cultural war against anyone who disagrees with them; namely most of the American people.
