Bhan Saeedabad faces severe inundation threats |
2010-09-19 |
[Dawn] Flood waters from Manchar Lake started to flow into Indus River as a 1500 feet breach was made in a protective embankment of Sehwan Larkana near Karampur village on Saturday. Eight breaches created in Manchar Lake and a breach in the Main Nara Valley (MNV) drain could not be sealed, resulting in flood waters to flow towards the last embankment of Bhan Saeedabad at Indus link canal. As a result, the whole area was facing high level of flood. Pakistan forces and civilians continued to strengthen the protective embankment, whereas 80 more villages of five union councils of Sehwan including Bhobakdal, Pakka Chana and Tilty were inundated. This brought the total number of villages inundated to 200. |
