City road crews in Juarez spent part of Thursday removing concerete barriers place in the streets by residents of a nearby neighborhood, according to Mexican news reports.

The barriers went up near the intersection of calle De la Primavera and Camino Viejo Senecu in the Campestre district after residents woke up to messages written on walls in the area threatening them.

Reports say residents removed the messages and refused to divulge to police the location of the walls where the messages were placed.
