Dr Muhammad Farooq Khan, a renowned religious scholar and vice chancellor of the newly established Swat Islamic University, was rubbed out on Saturday, police said.Mardan District Police Officer (DPO) Waqif Khan told Daily Times that two unidentified gunnies entered his private clinic at Defence, Mardan, and opened indiscriminate fire at him. As a result, Dr Farooq keeled over dead while his assistant Saleem Khan sustained injuries.
The DPO termed the incident an act of terrorism. A search operation was launched after the incident, but no arrest had been made so far.

They expressed their heartfelt condolences with the bereaved family and prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in peace.
