| Brit diplo escapes mortar attack in Yemen |

| BritainÂ’s deputy ambassador to Yemen has survived a rocket attack in the capital SanaÂ’a, local security officials say. It was the second major assassination attempt on a British diplomatic target in the country this year. The ambassador, Timothy Torlot, survived a suicide bombing also aimed at his car in April. Four men, including one German national, are currently on trial for that attack. Few details have so far been released on the latest attempt. According to officials, the rocket landed near an armoured car carrying the deputy head of mission at the British embassy, Fiona Gibb, at around 8.15 on Wednesday morning. It missed, though the car was struck by shrapnel. |
