14 Die in Northern Mexico

Fourteen people were murdered in northern Mexico in violence that included a couple shot to death in their Honda CRV van in Juarez, Chihuahua Monday night.

  • Two unidentified men were shot to death and a third was wounded in an attack at a hamburger stand in Juarez Monday afternoon, according to Mexican news reports. The attack took place a Harvey's No. 2 near the intersection of calles Hiedra and Jilotepec. One victim was shot in the store while the second deceased was killed as he attempted to escape the shooting.

  • An unidentified couple was shot to death in the sedan in a mall parking lot in Juarez Monday evening, according to Mexican news accounts. Armed suspects riding in a vehicle at the Plaza Juárez Mall attacked with firearms the couple who were in their Ford Taurus sedan. In their attempt to flee the scene, the suspects ran into five other parked vehicles.

  • Two members of a family were shot to death in front of their home in Juarez Monday night, say Mexican news reports. Armed suspects came upon the couple and two other people in a Honda CRV van near the intersection of calles Sierra de Juarez and Montes Apeninos in La Cuesta district and shot the driver who died instantly. The passenger fled the scene but was hunted down and shot near the intersection of calles Sierra de los Frailes and Montes Apeninos. Reports say spent cartridge casings were scattered over a wide area.

  • An unidentified man reports say was a lawyer was found mutilated and shot to death in Chihuahua, Chihuahua Monday night, say Mexican news accounts. The find was made near Las Conchitas recreation center, where a cardboard with a message stating the victim was a "rat" was found.

  • Two unidentified women were found shot to death in Juarez in two separate crimes Monday night, says the Mexican daily La Polaka. Near the corner of Camino Viejo a San José and Sabinas in the Marquis district was where the body of a woman was found hands bound and shot in the head. Reports say she was kidnapped. In the second crime a woman was found near the intersection of calles Monte Mayor and Catalpa behind the El Paseo shopping center shot with her head wrapped in tape. A message was written on her clothing,but the content was nor revealed.

  • An unidentified woman was found shot to death Tuesday morning in Juarez, according to Mexican news reports. The victim was found in a For Contour sedan near the corner of Zaragoza and Piña with her hands bound by socks and her head wrapped in plastic and masking tape.

  • A woman was shot to death as she slept in her home in Juarez Tuesday morning, say Mexican news accounts. Elizabeth Herrera, 41, was shot at her residence on calle Venustiano Carranza by unknown suspects using an AK-47assault rifle.

  • Two unidentified men were found dead aboard a Taxi cab in Torreon, Coahuila, say Mexican press accounts. The victims were found Sunday night near the corner of Calle Múzquiz and Avenida Río Nazas in the Nueva Rosita district where they were found inside the vehicle's trunk. Both victims were bound and gagged.

  • An unidentified man was shot to death with more than 20 shots in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon early Monday morning, say Mexican news accounts. The victim was killed in a vacant lot near the intersection of calles de Paseo de la Primavera and Camino al Mirador in the Jardines del Mirador district.

  • An unidentified man was found decapitated in south Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, say Mexican news sources. The victim was left in a Ford Expedition near the intersection of Privada Solidaridad and Avenida Alfonso Reyes in the Burocratas Municipales district.

A message scrawled on a wall at a used car lot in Juarez has listed the names of several members of La Linea who have been marked for death. The graffiti was signed by the Sinaloas drug cartel.

La Linea is the armed wing of the Juarez drug cartel and is known as the most brutal gangs in Mexican crime. The Sinaloa Drug Cartel is the Juarez drug gang's main competitor.
