Produce merchant gunned down in southern Thailand |

A produce merchant was killed in an ambush in Pattanis Yarang district on Monday night, said deputy Yarang police chief Pol Lt Col Tuande Chutanant. Prapas Meemode, 38, was found sitting dead in the driver's seat of his pickup truck. He was shot in the head and in the body. Police found several spent AK47 shells at the scene. Four defence volunteers on two motorcycles were also ambushed while they were on their way to the incident scene. They ducked for cover and returned fire. The attackers fled after a quick shoot-out.
