Seven million still lack shelter after floods: UN
2010-10-20
[Dawn] At least seven million people are still without shelter in Pakistain nearly three months after catastrophic floods devastated huge parts of the country, the United Nations, aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society said Tuesday.

Torrential monsoon rains began falling in northwestern Pakistain in July, causing floods that moved steadily south, wiping out villages and farmland and affecting an area roughly the size of England.

"At least seven million people are currently without shelter in the flood-affected areas," UN spokeswoman Stacey Winston told a news conference in Islamabad.

She said that the floods destroyed and damaged over 1.9 million homes.

The United Nations has issued a record two-billion-dollar appeal for funds to cope with the disaster, which UN agencies say affected 21 million people.

Only around 35 per cent of the appeal has already been funded.

Winston estimated that 14 million people were in need of immediate humanitarian assistance, saying that the United Nations distributed food rations among 2.5 million people this month in 39 flood-affected districts.

#1  DAILY TIMES.PK > SOUTH ASIA IS WORLD'S MOST CLIMATE-VULNERABLE REGION: STUDY [Climate Change Vulnerability Index].

You name it, the South Asian region's got it, which in turn equals POOR LOCAL, REGIONAL CONTROLS + RESISTANCE VEE CLIMATE CHANGE.

Lest we fergit, MILITANT THREAT + GW-CLIMATE CHANGE + "EARTH/LAND CHANGES", etc. = DIASPORAS = heading to Safer, Higher Ground + Work in CONUS + Americas via GUAM-WESTPAC, among other.

IOW aka "CHANGE", VOLUNTARILY OR FORCIBLY, for both GUAM + US + WORLD.

POPULATION DISPLACEMENT = GEOPOL CHANGE = NWO.
* TOPIX/WORLD NEWS > A WARMING PLANET MAY LEAVE CITIES FLATTENED: UN, + Flooded ala KATRINA + NOLA, LA espec a number of the US-World's KEY/MAJOR COASTAL CITIES.

* E.g. GUAM > MOst recently, local medias repor that CEMETERIES down south are sinking/eroding or otherwise at high risk of destruction + LT disappearance due to Rising Seas.
