| Iran nabs Zahedan attack perpetrators |

| [Iran Press TV] Iran's security forces have jugged four perpetrators of a terrorist attack in the southeastern city of Zahedan in which 27 people were killed. "These individuals played an influential role in transferring two bombers into the Sistan-Baluchestan Province from beyond borders, providing boom belts, explosives and also sheltering the bombers," Zahedan's Prosecutor General Mohammad Marzieh said on Thursday. On July 15, two bombs were detonated in quick succession in front of the Zahedan Grand Mosque in Sistan-Baluchestan. At least 27 people lost their lives and more than 270 others were maimed in the blasts. The perpetrators have confessed that the enemies' provocations to sow discord between Shias and Sunnis were important factors behind the attack, Marzieh was quoted by ISNA as saying. It is widely believed that hard-line Wahabis and Salafis trained by the CIA in Pakistain were behind the bombings. Iranian Interior Minister Mohammad Mostafa-Najjar announced in July that there is "concrete evidence which shows NATO and US forces in Pakistain and Afghanistan provide terrorist groups with equipment and weaponry as well as financial and intelligence support." |
