A detachment of the Mexican Army seized three safe houses, arrested four unidentified armed suspects and killed one in a raid at a ranch near San Isidro, Coahuila early Wednesday morning, say Mexican news accounts.
The army moved to the area at about 0040 hrs attempting to take possession of three houses on avenidas San Isidro and Viena, only to be met with gunfire and two grenade attacks.
The military returned fire hitting one suspect who attempted to escape the cordon, killing him on avenida Constitucion. The suspect was hit as he tried to board a Jeep Cherokee SUV.
Soldiers seized five vehicles, 300 rounds of ammunition and an undisclosed number of firearms
The four arrestees include two men and two women, all in their teens and 20s.
San Isidro is near the Saltillo-Piedra Negras highway in far eastern Coahuila.
