Boot (I made him the link) makes that point that none of the leaders in Iraq were intellectually honest, none without corruption, none without leadership flaws and yet Iraq is reasonably close to being a success.
Fouad Ajami's pessimism on Hamid Karzai not only posits Karzai with a deeper level of dishonesty than Maliki, Ajami also notes that Obama and his team is making the diplomatic situation worse (and Ajami thinks that, unlike W., Obama doesn't seem to be a person willing to challenge his own assumptions.)
I imagine we all agree with Mr. Ajami on that one. |
