Mexican Army units, and Chihuahua state police agents arrested a total of 18 individuals in several countercriminal operations since last Saturday, according to Mexican news sources.
A detachment of he Mexican 11th Military Region seized 175 kilograms of marijuana, arresting five suspects and contraband.
In addition to the drugs was seized a fragmentation grenade, a pistol silencer, two 9 mm magazines, a Chevrolet truck, a Chevrolet 4×4 truck with New Mexico tags, a Dodge Magnum with Minnesota plates, a Mitsubishi sedan and Suzuki ATV.
Arrested were: Marcos Nuñez Tabizon, 31, Leomar Delgado Lomeli, 20, Raymundo Hernandez Macias, 21, Luis Sanchez Calderon, 27 and Jorge Zazumbo Olivo, 41.
A Unitary police anti-kidnapping unit rescued a 43 year old male hostage, arresting five suspects, seizing a number of weapons and contraband.
The unit went to a safe house on calle Cosecha in the Los Naranjos III colony where the unidentified victim was found with several fingers missing. The victim was abducted three days before in Juarez. His fingers were severed to sent to his family with a ransom demand for USD $400,227.50.
In the same safe house agents found three AK-47 assault rifles, two 9mm weapons, several rounds of ammunition and a Chevrolet van.
A second safe house was found on calle Acequia Empinada, where were seized two AK-47 assault rifles, an AR-15 assault rifle, a 9mm pistol, a Nissan Armada SUV and a Dodge Nitro sedan.
Arrested were Erika Patricia Alonso Sandoval aka The Doll, 28, Alfredo Cruz Guzman alias El Pelon, 18, Erick C. Lee, 17 alias El Casi, Omar A. Ricardo, 17, alias El Chiquilin, and Hector Miguel Flores Moran, 22, the alleged gang leader.
A Mexican Army operation in western Chihuahua has arrested eight suspected members of a kidnapping gang and has seized a number of contraband.
The operation centered around El Rancho Valle Alto in Ascension where all eight suspects were detained.
Seized in the operation was : 4 AK-47 assault rifles, 2 9mm pistols, 5 disc magazines for AK-47 disc, 13 magazines for AK-47, 2 9mm magazines, 742 7.62mm, binoculars, 2 bulletproof vests, 9 cell phones and shortwave radios.
Vehicles seized include a Chrysler 300 sedan and a Dodge Ram pickup truck.
