Govt demands life term for 5 US nationals

[Pak Daily Times] A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Monday adjourned the hearing of a government appeal, seeking enhancement in the sentence of five Americans, who had been convicted for plotting terrorist attacks.
The government appealed to the court that the sentence awarded to the convicts was not stringent since their crime was of serious nature. It requested that they should be handed down life imprisonment. An anti-terrorism court of Sargodha had on June 24 awarded 10-year imprisonment to Egyptian national Ramay Zamzam, Waqar Khan and Umar Farooq of Pak descent, and Aman Hassan Yamar and Ahmed Abdullah Mani of Ethiopian descent. They are naturalised Americans. The Sargodha police had jugged them in December 2009 on suspicion of plotting terror attacks in Pakistain and for their alleged connections with banned terrorist outfits.
