| [Iran Press TV] A bad boy group in Nigeria has grabbed credit for bomb attacks on three pipelines operated by US and Italian companies in the country's oil-producing Niger Delta. The bad boy group Niger Delta Liberation Front (NDLF) said in a Saturday email statement that it had destroyed pipelines operated by US energy firm Chevron and Italian oil company Agip in the key oil producing state of Delta on Friday. "NDLF has carried out bombings of three oil flow stations in Delta State to draw government attention to the plight of the suffering people of Ayakoromor and environs," the statement said. The group also said Friday's bombing would serve as "a warning signal to a massive bombing." "This is not a mere threat as NDLF has planted bombs across major oil locations within the creeks and the sea ... ready for detonation," it said, warning that its attacks would even affect vessels sailing within Nigeria's waters in the Atlantic Ocean. Neither the two oil producers, nor Nigerian security forces have commented on the attack yet. The bad boy group has imposed heavy losses on Nigeria's oil industry through various attacks in the past. Niger Delta Liberation group wants foreign oil companies to leave the country and says the country's oil income should be shared with the poor people of the region. |
