TurboTax Timmy Warns of Catastrophe
2011-01-06
SecTreas Geithner today sent a letter to all members of Congress on the absolute necessity to raise the statutory debt limit. He wrote 'failure to raise the limit' would lead to have 'catastrophic economic consequences that would last for decades.'
Has Timmy woke up and smelled the coffee? By no means. The letter is a choreographed step in the easily-anticipated kabuki dance of endless government expansion and extravagant spending while forcing the future to pay for it all. The GOP has its role to play next. The only real unknown in this charade is when the catastrophe will strike, and who will suffer the most. Timmy will suffer very little if anything besides hurt feelings.

Geithner is the bloody "catastrophe."

#1  Next step is for Boehner to suggest a hearing, for next week, in which Timmy could testify to the House about the need for the debt ceiling increase, and then be grilled about what he's doing to cut spending, where he'd cut, etc. That would be good theater.
