| [Pak Daily Times] Police unearthed key facts which instigated Mumtaz Qadri into killing Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer, a private TV channel reported on Friday. According to police sources, the governor's self-confessed killer, Mumtaz Qardi, revealed that he made up his mind to assassinate Salmaan Taseer in a religious gathering addressed by Qari Haneef in his locality, Col Yousuf Colony on December 31. Qari Haneef made an emotional speech which instigated Qadri into killing the governor, the police said. He participated in the gathering in official uniform and recited Naat having his official gun on his shoulder. The police has started a search for Qari Haneef to arrest him, the channel said. Police jugged at least eight persons on Thursday late, whose SMSs were found in the mobile phone of Qadri. The names of jugged persons are being kept under wraps. These men incited Qadri into killing Taseer. They had alleged in their SMSs that Taseer had committed blasphemy. Also, the CPO had been asked to explain as to why Qadri's name was included in the security squad of Salmaan Taseer, the channel reported. |
