| USS Carl Vinson Visits S. Korea |

| After a month-long journey the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson docked at the southern port city of Busan on Tuesday. The vessel's arrival follows South Korea-U.S. joint naval exercises in November which involved another U.S. aircraft carrier, the USS George Washington, as tensions soared on the Korean Peninsula after North Korea's shelling of Yeonpyeong Island. The Carl Vinson, which can carry up to 90 aircraft including fighter jets and anti-submarine helicopters, recently completed military drills with Japanese forces in the East China Sea. While in Busan, the ship's crew will participate in community service projects and other activities with the South Korean Navy. Among the crew members are a number of Korean-American sailors. |
