Third Pakistani was killed by responding American consulate vehicle |
2011-01-28 |
An employee of the US Consulate in Lahore shot dead two youths, while a third was crushed by the driver of a Parado, who was called by him for help, at Chowk Qartaba on Thursday afternoon. Parado photos. The American, identified as David Raymond, told police that two armed motorcyclists tried to rob him. He chased them and opened fire at them near Chowk Qartaba. Police said one of the bikers died on the spot while the other succumbed to his injuries in a hospital. After the shooting, David made a rescue call and a team rushed to the scene in a jeep. Violating one-way traffic law, the jeep driver hit an innocent motorcyclist, who died on the spot. He sped away from the scene while police arrested David near Old Anarkali Food Street after a chase. Good job, making a bad situation even worse. |

#11 Could this have been a kidnapping attempt gone bad? Or could he have been carrying a diplomatic cable with names of informants? |

#10 Grom, your article is one out of hundreds that claim he chased the men down. All other reports I read state he shot them as they were brandishing there weapons next to his vehicle. |

#9 #7Â Rob Crawford, did you even READ the article? It has nothing to do with Raymond's actions. He called for help and a responding embassy vehicle went the wrong way down a one-way street and ran over a motorcyclist in its haste to arrive. Ever been to the region? People there drive the wrong way down one-way streets ALL the time. Sucks to be the motorcyclist. Next... |

#8 Chasing people down and shooting them, for whatever reason, will get you in trouble anywhere. Pretty stupid thing for a consolate employee to do. Makes us look bad. |

#4 Guys, how many stories have there been here about motorcycle drive-bys? I think Raymond was showing situational awareness and likely saved his own life. Screw the thugs of Jihadistan. Raymond likely deserves a ticker-tape parade. |

#3 Yes, thats brilliant. Go back to the consulate to ask who robbed you... |

#2 I am sure you could not have gone back to consulate and asked liasion whom it was that robbed you. Lest of course you had a "Diplomatic Pouch". In which case you still could have gone home and asked. Instead, you decided to go 5.0 on a populace in a foreign country when these bombings and the like are daily business and shop never knows what hood to be in every day? Not to bash on you, just noting the timing man. You watched too many Jackie Chan movies or what else. |

#1 Lahore kids were immediate to point out this brutality to protest level, and made a big media deal about it. |
