Police Investigate Violence in North
2011-01-28
[Tolo News] Investigations have been launched to find the circles behind insecurity in northern Afghanistan, senior police officials in the north told TOLOnews.

Some al-Qaeda linked fighters were massively involved in escalation of violence in this part of the country, General Dawood Dawood, Commander of the Pamir 303 Zone told TOLOnews.

General Dawood emphasised that the northern region would soon be cleared of hard boys.

North of Afghanistan, parts of which have been under the Taliban control for some time, has been the scene of some deadly terrorist attacks that have ended up with deaths of numerous people.

Security transition process is expected to begin from north, perhaps of some gains being made by forces in the fight against hard boys.

"We have several other military operations ahead and I'm sure that by the time the operations come to an end, there won't be any room for Islamic fascisti in the north," General Dawood told TOLOnews.

General Dawood claimed that there were imported muscle among the Islamic fascisti carrying out attacks to target government buildings.

Officials believed that there are some specific circles hugely linked to insurgency in the north region.

"There are a number of Talibs coming from neighbouring countries to build sanctuaries," he said.

Lack of a sufficient number of police forces to ensure security and poor equipment are the two factors that have led to violence and instability in these parts.
