#23 Man, I'll bet Ariana did the Billy "White Shoes" Johnson End Zone Dance as soon as this AOL jamoke left the room. Hope she got her money up front. |

#22 People buy things and don't always give the real reason, I think AOL intends Huffpo to vanish. Possibile. HuffPo will be the label, with AOL subsumed. Whether or not that translates into lost membership is another story. |

#21 This article would seem to cry out for the "That doesn't make a bit of sense" graphic. Hey, maybe this is a sign that Fred's long-held dream of selling Rantburg to Life Magazine isn't just a fantasy any more. |

#20 Did they get any Boys and Girls Clubs to toss in a coupla bucks too? I mean, what a great investment... |

#19 Would be interested in the details of how this will be paid. That info would point toward whether this is phony money or laundered. |

#18 People buy things and don't always give the real reason, I think AOL intends Huffpo to vanish. Look at K Mart buying Sears Roebuck, all they wanted was a respectable name. (And they're destroying that) |

#17 A payoff laundered through AOL? It sounds likely to me. |

#16 Lefties have a simple system for making things work and it's called "cooking the books". It kept the soviet union going for 70 years and it was so spectacularly successful that everyone was worried right until it collapsed. So lets see what exactly is involved in this purchase and can it be verified? |

#15 How much would they offer for Rantburg? And would Fred sell? |

#14 AOL still exists!?!? AND HAS MONEY!?!?! Did Hell just freeze over? |

#13 IIUC, HfPo has a seat at the president press conferences, correct? Does that necessarily transfer across? |

#12 AOL lost $782 million last year. |

#10 I seem to remember someone calling Ariana, the most upwardly mobile Greek since Icarus. |

#8 “As part of the transaction, Arianna Huffington, The Huffington Post’s co-founder and editor-in-chief, will be named president and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post Media Group, which will include all Huffington Post and AOL content,” the statement said so - never trust AOL content |

#7 AOL just didn't buy HuffPo. They bought all the contents of HuffPo. Including all the crazy commenters, conspiracy theories, and foolish wacko columnists. For $315 large. Man alive, I am in the wrong business. |

#6 p/e ratio is defined as price per share divided by earnings per share. In this case, the p/e ratio of HP makes it about as valuable as Newsweek. |

#5 I was thinking it was worth about as much as Newsweak which was up for a buck. |

#2 Just incredible. I wouldn't have bought HP for $4.00 even. |

#1 They should spend some of that money on a graphic artist. HP has a real retro feel to it. Which doubtless makes it a good match for AOL. |
