#3 Dribble2716, I did a quick google on the story, and Al Arabiya has a bit more. Spain's leading daily El Pais said on its website that Iranian police accused the diplomat of taking part in a banned anti-government demonstration in Tehran on Monday. The paper quoted the diplomat, whom it named as Ignacio Perez-Cambra, as saying he was with Spain's ambassador near the demonstration "which we are allowed to do under the Vienna Convention." Perez-Cambra was held just after leaving the ambassador and was taken by police to police headquarters in Tehran where he was told to hand over his mobile phone. Spain has protested to Tehran over a "very serious" incident in which Iranian authorities detained a Spanish diplomat for four hours, the Spanish foreign ministry said Tuesday. Spain warned it would recall its ambassador from Tehran for consultations if Tehran does not apologize or offer some valid explanation within 48 hours, said Foreign Minister Trinidad Jimenez. |

#1 That"s it? No backround? No context? No wherefore etc? WHY? What't the game? Iran just likes to jack Spain around? Why post this tidbit unless it has a head and a tail? Is it a moose or a duck? |
