Wisconsin Officials Says It Will Cost Up to $7.5 Million to Clean After Protest “Slobs”
2011-03-04
It could cost as much as $7.5 million to repair damage protesters have done to the Capitol Building marble say officials in Madison. Fixing posters to the marble with tape and glue appears to have done the bulk of the damage.

During testimony Thursday, a representative from the Attorney GeneralÂ’s office said a contractor estimated it would cost $500,000 to remove all of the posters and garbage. He says it would cost $6 million to restore the marble inside of the Capitol building and another $1 million to touch up the marble outside of the building.

Officials with the Department of Administration say the marble must be restored immediately. They say normally, tape isnÂ’t used on the walls of the Capitol by rule because of the historic nature of the building. Easels are normally used for signs.

#13  Yup. Taking on a cleanup task of this size and sensitivity is clearly a job for real Union men.

#11  $7.5 miilion seems awful high. Mind you, I'm not a fan of these thugs. What the heck did they do that caused that much damage? But then again there shouldn't have been any damages. You wouldn't see this childish behavior, thuggery, and vandalism from the Tea Party.

#10  The mess should be left as is for at least a week after the missing senators come home from their temper tantrum vacation. If they come back to a clean room the children won't get the message.

#9  Since the government is already collecting dues for the union, I know where I would get the cleanup funds.

Agree. They should drag it out, maybe call in some secondary and tertiary contractors to estimate and put it all in the news and on neat letterhead which can double as evidence for the lawsuit which is sure to be follow. They'll already have exhibits for the Jury. By election time, the tables will turn.

#7  With a little notice (on an easel) telling them who and what sh*t on their capital building.

#6  I'd let it take a long time o be repaired. Let the people of Wisconsin look at it until the next election.

#5  I'd send out an additional $7.5 Million in layoffs with the explanation that they can thank their fellow teachers/SEIU/DNC union thugs
