#4 In Mexican weapons seizure lists since I have been doing Mexican drug war news, the word trimmings kept coming up without explanation, and it wasn't until a few days ago that I found out what furniture was in relation to a weapon, on an Accuracy International sniper rifle web site, of all places. Lo these many months I just kept the reference out of the lists because I didn't know that they were. And now I suspect that trimmings are the same as furniture, a word I had seen in weapons seizure lists only a time or two. Mike, you are right. Black trimmings for AKMS assault rifles are apparently an item for those bad guys who want to doll up the old AKMS, and who really think they will last more than ten seconds in a real firefight with a typically G3A2 assault rifle armed Mexican fusilero. |

#3 What are black trimmings? Probably for gun dealers what all those interesting mark ups are for car dealers. You know all those little things below the standard price listing to drive up the cost of the sale but add nothing of real value - aka the 200 dollar car wash. |

#2 The 22nd verse of "The Twelve Days of Christmas"? Or maybe not. What they 'might' mean is what is sometimes called furniture on a firearm, like the stock, the forestock, the pistol grip, which are commonly black on M16-class weapons. Extra grips and such. Or maybe it was the web gear or other bits. No telling, really. Lost in translation. The Black Rifle, ahead of its time PC-wise. |
