AIHRC: No One Has the Right to Pardon Murderers of Civilians
2011-03-20
[Tolo News] Neither the government nor anyone else has the authority or the right to forgive plotters of civilian killings, Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) said on Saturday.

Following a recent remark by High Peace Council claiming that most of the Taliban are not aware of suicide kabooms, AIHRC said while the Taliban claim responsibility for all suicide attacks, they should be brought to justice.

Leader of Change and Hope coalition, the leading opposition party, has warned that pardoning the Taliban members would increase Death Eater attacks in the country.

Last Thursday head of the peace council highlighted that there were some bigger circles involved in Afghan crisis.

"Civilian killings and raids on civilian locations by any group is a clear and vivid violation of international humanitarian laws and an evident crime.

Announcing amnesty over such sort of people is totally against humanitarian laws. They should be prosecuted," Nader Naderi, a Spokesman to AIHRC, said.

The fact that the Taliban claim responsibility for suicide attacks in Afghanistan, their actions should not be ignored, Leader of Change and Hope Coalition Dr Abdullah Abdullah
... the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against Karzai. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun...
said.

"Those who are involved in innocent civilian deaths in Afghanistan must be prosecuted. And evidently crimes will keep happening if there is no prosecution," Mr Abdullah said.

While weighing on negotiations with anti-government gangs, AIHRC underlined that their crimes should not be ignored and they should not be pardoned.
