Hajj pilgrims in Gaza receive 900 delayed bags |
2011-03-30 |
[Ma'an] After eight months of waiting, half of the luggage of Paleostinian pilgrims to Soddy Arabia was delivered to the Rafah crossing on Tuesday, officials reported. An estimated 900 bags and packages arrived at the Gazoo-Egypt crossing, the Ministry of Waqf and Religious Affairs in Gazoo reported, a portion of the thousands of tons of bags held up for unknown reasons by Saudi and Egyptian officials. The bags and belongings were confiscated in July and August, as Paleostinians who performed the Hajj pilgrimage to Soddy Arabia's city of Mecca returned home to Gazoo. Since the summer, the bags have been kept in a warehouse near the Cairo airport, and several appeals to secure their release failed, officials said. |
