11 U.S. soldiers killed in April

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Eleven U.S. soldiers were killed in April including six in "non-combat operations," upping the U.S. armyÂ’s fatalities to 4452 since the March 2003 invasion of Iraq, 22 of them in 2011.

On April 2, the U.S. army said two soldiers were killed in indirect fire in Babel and Baghdad. On April 3 it said one soldier was killed in a non-combat incident in Mosul, and announced on April 4 that a captain and a soldier were killed in other non-combat incidents in Baghdad and Mosul respectively.

On April 10, the U.S. military said a soldier was killed in Kirkuk, and on April 19 it announced the death of a soldier was killed of another U.S. soldier but did not say where.

On April 22, two soldiers were killed in improvised explosive device (IED) blasts in Ninewa, as well as another one in Babel in a non-combat operation on April 27. Reuters quoted the U.S. army as saying that another soldier was killed on April 27 by hostile fire in southern Iraq.
