#2  PS, those people hate Helicopter gunships equipped with rockets.
Nobody has to climb rocks and storm jack poop if they have a couple of attack helicopters and some serious boom boom.

The people who live up there are stupid and greedy. They also are Moslems. They want that baksheesh. Sometimes you have to "persuade" them to leave the trucks alone.
Rockets and 40 mike mike convince even stupid people.

#1  When Dara Shikoh lost out in the succession ( about 1587 give or take) against Aurangzeb he fled into this region with a retinue of wives and loyal servants. Its narrow dark stone precipice lined valleys...and high above the valley is a stone fortress, much of it dug into the mountain like Ali Baba's cave with great barn doors and steel studded gates. Dara Shikoh was never heard from again...but the local people did send his head to Aurangzeb with a witty note that he could come himself and he would get the same.

Its all still up there today and tourist markers alongside the road put there by the British in the 1800's telling that the 14th Welsh and the 9th Irish lost 203 men storming the place and never DID take it. The Paks leave the signs on the road today untouched so anybody in the next 500 years who want to try it again can read all about it.

It you want to drive through there it will cost you about 800 rupees per truck per trip. And they will steal your watch too.

There is no law in there, there hasnt been any for hundreds and hundreds of years. Bring the kids.
