#2  P2K, Dick Winters did not win the MOH, although he deserved it. He got the Distinguished Service Cross instead. Apparently the suits upstairs had decided that there would be only one MOH for the Normandy landings, and somebody else got it.

Also, it seems to me that it was another member of Easy Company who made the remark of serving in a company of heroes. I would have to go back and watch Band of Brothers again to see who it was.

#1  Did they give the credit of killing Yamamoto to FDR or to the men that did it? One thing America understands is that the dirty work is done by their sons and daughters, not glory hounds. It comes off as posturing and tasteless. There is no humbleness here.

Dick Winters, MOH, said that when he was asked by his grandson if he was a hero, Winters said no, but he served with a company of heroes.
