Aoun's Bloc Nearing Decision to End Miqati's Nomination
2011-05-20
[An Nahar] MP Fadi al-Aawar, who is a member of Free Patriotic Movement

bloc, said Thursday that the Change and Reform bloc was nearing a decision to withdraw the nomination of Premier-designate Najib Miqati.

Al-Aawar told Voice of Leb radio station (93.3) that the major reason behind the delay in the formation of the cabinet was that politicians were waiting for messages from abroad.
He did not specify to which country he was referring.

FPM leadership sources told As Safir daily in remarks published Thursday that Miqati was bringing consultations on the new cabinet back to square one.

Every time a deal is reached on a controversial topic, Miqati overcomes the agreement and delays the final decision on the issue, the sources said.

They said that the premier-designate was intentionally accusing Aoun of being behind the delay in the formation of the government.

"Hadn't Miqati hinted that the cabinet would be formed as soon as the interior ministry obstacle was solved?" the sources wondered. "Why didn't his calculations prove he was right?"
