First, China made cut-price clothes and knick-knacks. Then it learned how to make mobile phones and iPads. Now it is making a 2,050ft-long bridge spanning the San Francisco bay. |

#5 Bethlehem Steel didn't bid because it went out of existence in 2003, as US industrial capacity was shipped overseas at cut rates. Couldn't compete with slave labor and environmental arbitrage. |
