Weekly initial jobless claims go up 9,000 ... unexpectedly! |

Would all those that bet the 390K figure would be revised upward step forward to collect your winnings please? In the week ending August 13, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 408,000, an increase of 9,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 399,000. The 4-week moving average was 402,500, a decrease of 3,500 from the previous week's revised average of 406,000. |

#4 The numbers do not include those who give up looking for work each week. If I read correctly, the total number employed continues to decline. |
