| Call for Formation of Terrorists Special Tribunal Welcomed |

| [Tolo News] President Karzai's senior legal advisor has called the call for formation of a special court for snuffies justifiable and timely. Yesterday the front man for National Directorate of Security (NDS) urged formation of a special tribunal for terrorists. NDS Spokesman Lotfullah Mashal said that there are lenient articles in the penal code that can avoid gunnies to face required punishments. "During the government of Dr Najibullah there was a special tribunal for Mujahedeen. They would hang Mujahedeen memebers right after their capture. There should be a similar tribunal for terrorists," Mr Lotfullah Mashal said. Karzai's legal advisor Nasrullah Stanikzai said that the Supreme Court has the authority to recommend formation of a special court for snuffies to the president. "The call from national directorate of security is timely and the process for formation of such a court is simple," Nasrullah Stanikzai said. "Based on the law the Supreme Court has the authority to recommend formation of the court to the president and the president should approve it." Establishment of the special court for snuffies would significantly decrease the level of crimes in the country, Mr Stanikzai said. In the past one year around 2,200 gunnies that were jugged by security forces, have been imprisoned, according to the NDS. |
