#12  The corruption over the entire affair stinks to hell. This useless president, that a-hole senator, none of them know really what to do.

They are all shameful, and I have lost ALL patience.

#11  I have been told Obama's father is about 3/4 Arab and only 1/4 Black. Could explain why he doesn't care.

#9  Measles? Dengue fever possibly? Black Africans are leaving Libya about as fast as their feet will carry them. Must be a valid reason.

And what do we hear out of the Obama Administration? Crickets, and more crickets. Why? Because they've been reading the diplomatic cables and other traffic and know precisely what is going on. They are simply distancing themselves from the smell and waiting for the Libyan affair to be overtaken by the next crises de jour. A bit late I'd say.

#8  There are a lot of more credible sources reporting the same thing atm.

Including a lot of papers in Nigeria, which according to them supported the TNC early on and who now believe their government was taken advantage of.

#7  Left the "r" out of Bergen.

Lastly, I respect McCain's service. But that was 40+ years ago. What are you doing for us TODAY senator?

#6  It's in the WAPO, the Times, BBC, several others. Yes, this fellow is a loon, but I enjoy listening to birds now and then. A "process"....? Yes, I suppose some might have referred to Darfur or Begen-Belsen as "processes."

#5  So why are we listening to anything that a clown like Dennis South has to say about anything?

I think Besoeker wanted to make a point. He has, just not the one he intended.

#4  It is hardly surprising that the winners of a civil war exact their vengeance on the losers. It may not be right and it's not pleasant to contemplate, but it's a process also seen when a besieged city finally is reduced.

But the writer loses my respect when he states:

The 74-year old Senator, who himself claims to have suffered torture from his Vietnamese captors during the Vietnam War, ...

No, the Senator does not just 'claim' it: he was tortured, and brutally, and anyone who mocks the man for that isn't going to do well in an argument.

What Mr. McCain is doing is trying to appeal to the better sense of the TNC. The TNC has indeed said that it will uphold democratic standards, and Mr. McCain wants them to end the abuses they're currently engaged in and rein in their supporters.

Now Mr. McCain may be idealistic. He may not have firm knowledge of all that is happening in Libya. He may not understand the Arabic and tribal mindset. He may, in fact, have been suckered by the TNC.

But he does understand torture, and he is using the only tool he currently has -- the public podium -- to highlight it and try to bring an end to it.

For that he has my respect.

And the writer of this piece, Mr. Dennis Smith? From what I can tell, he's a loon. A nasty loon at that.

#3  Ahem. From Wikipedia.

"The Mathaba News Agency (al-Mathaba, meaning "The Center"), also called the Anti-Imperialism Center (AIC), is an alternative news agency created by the regime of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 1982 to further world-revolutionary and anti-imperialist goals.[1] It has organized a number of conferences in Tripoli, attended by leftist or anti-Western leaders including Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe's ZANU-PF, Daniel Ortega of the FSLN in Nicaragua, Raul Reyes of Colombia's FARC, and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva of Brazil."

Other "headlines" include: "Mathaba issues warning that the CIA Arab station Al-Jazeera TV which is run by prostitute rent-boy Emir of Qatar is going to make a false report of African leader Muammar Qaddafi claiming he is dead."

So why are we listening to anything that a clown like Dennis South has to say about anything? Mathaba makes the Iranian news service look like National Review.

#2  Both him and Prezident Zero wrote these guys a blank check and are now going to act surprised that they're cashing it.

Argh!

#1  It says he scolds them for their abuses.

I'd rather scold him for supporting the SOB's.
