Cpl Yongyuth Sutjarit, 45, was driving a pickup truck with three rangers riding in the back when they were attacked. Two men on a motorcycle opened fire at the truck and a bullet hit the corporal in the head. The truck swerved off the road and ran into a ditch. The other rangers were not hurt. They jumped from the truck and returned fire in a five-minute exchange. In Songkhla province, a teenager and a boy were found with an ammunition cache on Wednesday night. Police raided a worker's shelter and found a youth aged 16, and a boy aged 10 guarding the ammunition, which included two magazines for an M16, and four machetes.
