Obama: Americans Not Better Off Than They Were Four Years Ago
2011-10-04
It's Twilight in America again...
George Stephanopoulos, ABC News: "And a lot of anger out there. There's so many people who simply don't think they're better off than they were four years ago. How do you convince them that they are?"

President B.O.: "Well, I don't think they're better off than they were four years ago. They're not better off than they were before Lehman's collapse, before the financial crisis, before this extraordinary recession that we're going through. I think that what we've seen is that we've been able to make steady progress to stabilize the economy, but the unemployment rate is still way too high. And that's why it's so critical for us to make sure that we are taking every action we can take to put people back to work."

#13  Define "better off."

Money's not the only thing to judge by - we have less freedom and more gummint intrusion.

And TRAITORS IDIOTS in charge trying to destroy our country.

#12  Good for you, Glenmore.

I've got a brain the size of a planet and they've got me parking cars.

#11  I'm better off today than 6 years ago - kids are off the payroll. And than 40 years ago - got a real job now, instead of parking cars for tips.

#10  So why have things continued to get worse? 'Stablize' means something different in DC than in the real world, e.g. the Federal Reserve has a legal responsibility to maintain stable prices, something it has never done. It's also supposed to maximize employment.

#8  I'm still waiting for a poll of voters who were unemployed when they voted for Obama - are they still unemployed & would they re-elect him if they could? I strongly suspect the answer is 'yes' to both questions, but would like to be wrong.

#6  Look for that first sentence to be used in every Republican's advertising for the whole 2012 election cycle.

Boy, for the smartest and most awesome intellect ever to occupy the White House, he's sure not very bright, handing his opposition a money quote on a silver platter like that.

#5  Can you say "malaise"?

#4  They're not better off than they were before Lehman's collapse, before the financial crisis, before this extraordinary recession that we're going through.

Translation:

It's Bush's fault.

#3  Hell, Americans are not even better off than they were 40 years ago. Take care of our own and make our own stuff.

#2  You mean we are a lot worse off than 6 years ago when the Donks took over Congress and started this whole mess?

#1  Americans seem better able to spot a Marxist liar now.
