2011-10-06
One woman was killed, her neighbour seriously injured and four soldiers wounded in a series of attacks by terrorists militants in Narathiwat province on Wednesday night. The deputy chief of Cho Airong district police said the attacks were conducted by three teams of terrorists insurgents.

In the first attack, men armed with M16 and AK47 rifles broke into the house of Jintana sae Tiew, 46, a Buddhist, about 9:30 p.m. They shot Ms Jintana many times, killing her.

The terrorists militants also shot her neighbor, Abdulkarim Masae, 46, a former provincial council member, who looked out of his window upon hearing the gunshots. The man was hit in the head and seriously injured.

A team of four soldiers was then attacked on the way to the scene of the incident. Their pick-up truck was hit by a home-made bomb detonated by terrorists militants. All four of them were injured and the vehicle damaged.

In the third attack, terrorists militants detonated a bomb as Masakri Sali, an assistant Cho Airong district chief, and a number of defense volunteers were also heading to the scene of the first incident. The bomb exploded just after their vehicle ran past the spot where it was hidden. Nobody was hurt.

Defense volunteer shot and wounded

A defense volunteer was shot and seriously wounded in an ambush in Yala province on Thursday morning. Abdulloh Muyadeng, 27, was attacked on a local road about 10 a.m. by gunmen hiding in a roadside forest. He was shot in the face and taken to the hospital.

Police blamed separatist terrorists militants.
