When the people are hungry, anything to some earn dough: Egyptian gas flows again to Israel
2011-10-24
It'll help until Israel's gas field starts producing...
The supply of natural gas from Egypt to Israel has been renewed, the National Infrastructures Ministry announced on Sunday.

The supply was renewed gradually early on Friday morning, at first partially to test the system, and subsequently the normal flow was resumed.

The supply of gas from Egypt to Israel was stopped after the pipeline carrying the gas in the Sinai peninsula was sabotaged a number of times.

#7  Paleos have become the Terrell Owens of the great game: they're poison and nobody wants them on their team.

interestingly, other people have proposed something similar, except they assume a one time payment rather than an annual one.

#4  The Egyptian economy must be something special right now, what with tourism having dropped to nothing.

Israel should consider a "devil's bargain" with Egypt, to pay the government of Egypt a stipend for every Gaza Palestinian they grant citizenship, who will then be deported from Israel and the Gaza Strip for good.

Gaza has 1.65m Palestinians. The average Egyptian earns only $1,530 a year. This means that Israel could pay just $6,000 to the Egyptian government for each and every Palestinian they take, and the total cost would still be less than $10b a year.

They could even split the money, with $3,000 to the Egyptian government, and $3,000 to each and every Paleo. This would mean a family of six would get $18,000 a year, which would make them upper middle class by Egyptian standards.

Israel's GDP is $220b a year. $10b a year to be rid of the murderous and pestiferous Gaza Strip is such a bargain.
