| #4 I have a feeling that this is Israeli humor. The amount of international hilarity they would get from taking in just a few hundred Shiite Alawites would have both Sunnis and Shiites gnashing their teeth and brawling throughout the ME. The Alawites would only do so if the only alternative was extermination, because it would make them utter outcasts. And those evil Joos would make it worse by being ridiculously nice to them. Really nice temporary homes, lots of free food, electricity and water, lots of international attention and people to listen to how bad their lives were under Assad, and how worse they would now be under the Syrian Sunnis, etc., etc. There hasn't been potential Jewish comedy like this since the Borscht Belt dried up. |
