AP Chief Visits N. Korea
2012-01-18
CNN went to Saddam, you know...
Associated Press CEO Tom Curley and other staff of the wire service arrived in Pyongyang on Saturday, North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency reported. They are apparently in Pyongyang to discuss the opening of a bureau there as well as how to transmit high-definition images from the electronically backward country.
Any discussion of what AP can and can't transmit?
In June last year, Curly met with KCNA chief Kim Byong-ho at AP headquarters in New York, and signed a memorandum of understanding over the opening of the Pyongyang bureau. Curly said at the time that AP planned to open the bureau early this year.

AP's television affiliate APTN opened a video news bureau in Pyongyang in 2006, but this would be the first western media bureau handling text and photo news.

#3  No discussion of transmitting to, or within, the electronically backward country? Has anyone thought of accidental spillover on the radio frequencies?

#1  The Norks had better watch it. The AP is so leftist that they might try to undermine the Nork monarchy.
