Village leader gunned down in southern Thailand |

A village leader was killed in a drive-by shooting in Narathiwat province on Tuesday morning. Police received the report a the shooting about 10 a.m. They found thebody of Ni Laengoh, 57, village chief of Ban Bango Kubo, near his motorcycle. Ni had been driving his bike to attend a monthly meeting at Rangae district office on a local road in his village when a gunman on a pickup truck fired on him with an AK47 assault rifle. The victim was hit three times and died on the spot. The assailants took NiÂ’s 9mm pistol before they fled. Police blamed separatist |
