| Mum tortures daughter born on day of 'Baghdad fall' |

| An Iraqi woman in Saudi Arabia has systematically tortured her little daughter because she was born on the same day when the Iraqi capital Baghdad was seized by US invasion forces in 2003. Officials said they discovered that the girl, Noura, had been tortured by sharp objects and fists by her mother following a check up at school. “Her body was full of bruises and marks of sharp objects…her mother later confessed to having beaten her and tortured her many times,” the Saudi Arabic language daily Alwatan said in a report from the northerwestern town of Hail. “The mother said she was doing so because her daughter was born on the same day of Baghdad’s fall…..she told authorities that she would commit a suicide if they decide to take her daughter off her.” Alwatan said the woman is married to a Saudi, who had been crippled and bed ridden at home following a stroke. |
