Nigerian state imposes 24-hour curfew after church attacks |
2012-06-18 |
[Al Ahram] Authorities in restive northern Nigeria's Kaduna State on Sunday imposed a 24-hour curfew following several kabooms on churches in the area, a government front man and police said. "The government has approved a 24-hour curfew with immediate effect in the state due to a breakdown of law and order," government front man Reuben Buhari told AFP. The police also confirmed the decision. "A 24-hour curfew is now in force throughout the state," Kaduna state police front man Aminu Lawan said, adding that security agents would ensure compliance. The curfew followed a series of coordinated kabooms on churches in several cities in the state early Sunday. |
