#5 yup. But gromky, I read something else: a recognition that the potential failure of Mexico to set up a functioning, non-corrupt rule of law and a secure day to day life for its citizens poses a massive security threat to the US - a threat that most are not focused on. |

#4 The pro-administration mantra of senior officers both active and retired. Our failure to adequately control cash and guns flowing south into Mexico is a function of inadequate resources and manpower for the Coast Guard, the DEA, and the US Border Patrol and the Customs Service (CBP). |

#3 Did anyone actually read the thing? The whole report blames America for everything. Mexico is just a victim of Uncle Sam - yet again. Funny how many of Mexico's failures can be blamed on us. All of them, pretty much. |

#2 well written summary - but disagree with idea that "leaglization of drugs would be an international disaster". The USA has to legalize some of these drugs ... this drug war has failed. Casualties keep mounting, cartels re-organize and keep producing. The only WINNING outcome is to remove their profit potential. |

#1 US policy failure. Gosh. I wonder if Obama, or Romney, will read this. Romney could use it to clobber Obama except that Bush and McCain have failed just as badly as Obama. It's about damn time somebody in a position of power in this country tells it like it is. |
