[Yemen Post] One prisoner was killed and nearly ten others were maimed in the city of Dhamar as violence acts broke out inside the governorate's central prison on Tuesday. Eyewitnesses said that they heard shootings inside the jail, pointing out that the shootings lasted for two hours.
Security sources said that Ali Jubran was killed as security forces randomly shot fire on prisoners, affirming that the tensions erupted as prisoners refused to allow taking one prisoner out to be executed.
The central prison of Dhamar witnessed violence acts in late 2011 and the beginning of 2012 as festivities broke out between security forces and prisoners in which seven persons were killed and dozens others were maimed.
Well-informed sources said that about 15 persons were killed and dozens others were maimed inside the jail since last September.
Committees formed by the government to probe the events have not disclose any outcomes or reasons of violence.
Policemen foiled in February a large-scale escape attempt by prisoners from the prison. There were several attempts of the prisoners to escape.
The Dhamar central prison witnessed chaos, but the prison management negotiated with prisoners and reconsidered their demands and complaints.
