QUETTA: As many as two passersby were killed and 16 others, including five women and four children, were critically injured when a remote- controlled bomb went off near Musa Colony on Sariab Road on Tuesday. According to police, the bombing occurred as a convoy of Frontier Corps (FC) was patrolling the area. The bomb was planted in a car. Soon after the convoy passed, the bomb exploded, killing a man on the spot and injuring 17 others. “The FC personnel convoy escaped the attack because of a bomb jammer their vehicle was carrying,” FC sources said. Two rickshaws, a taxi and a motorcycle were destroyed and windows of many houses smashed. “At least 20kg of explosives were used in the blast,” the Bomb Disposal Squad officials said. |
