Obama: Egypt Neither Friend Nor Foe
2012-09-13
President Barack Obama says in an interview that the U.S. would not consider Egypt an ally, "but we don't consider them an enemy."

Obama says in an interview with the Spanish-language network Telemundo that Egypt is a "new government that is trying to find its way." He warns that if the Egyptian government takes actions showing "they're not taking responsibility," then it would "be a real big problem."

The president discussed the Middle East in the aftermath of protests at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo that led to crowds climbing the embassy walls and tearing down an American flag. It coincided with attacks on the U.S. consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi that led to the killing of the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans.

#9  I doubt their are hidden kill switches but the truth is an M1 is probably gonna be worthless in a few months without proper maintenance and I've ready humorous stories about third world maintenance standards let alone about the communications up and down their command structure. Egypt has a rolling target range. If they go to war Israel gains the moral high ground and can do what they want to satisfy their security needs. I suspect they have a few ideas on that.

The Egyptians could do far more damage by supporting Palestinians and radicals in other nations. But the Zionist entity (that doesn't exist on their maps) makes such a tempting target, it insults their very manhood.

#8  We bribe Eygpt to leave Israel alone.

I understand that. I think the Israelis can handle them. The Egyptian military knows it. Stop giving the Egyptian military any assistance, activate the hidden kill switches, and let the Israelis know all the codes for the equipment we gave the Egyptians.

#5  If not a friend, why would we continue to provide military assistance and economic aid?

#4  Yeah Frank, and this one's a doozy.

Seems ally is a "term of art" and only applies to those with whom we have a formal military agreement.

Does anyone here believe that Zero has a clue about what that means?

#1  Since Mubarak was an ally if not a friend can we now ask AND answer the question...Who lost Egypt?

For the logically challenged the answer is B. Hussein Obama. [/sarc]
