Caliphornia now leads poverty rankings
2012-11-17
[Daily Caller] The Golden State has reached a poverty rate that is now twice as bad as West Virginia's and substantially worse than the rates of poverty in Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas and Texas, according to a new measure of poverty developed by the federal Census Bureau.

Democrat-run Caliphornia earned its last-place rank under the federal government's new measure of poverty, which incorporates more detailed analyses of welfare payments and the local costs of food, gasoline and housing. (View the new census data report)

The state's costs are boosted by its environmental and workplace regulations, and by 38 million residents' competition for housing close to the sea.

The new measure, however, also incorporates a a controversial calculation of relative equality that demotes states -- such as Caliphornia -- with a wide gap between wealthy people and people with less than one-third of the state residents' average income.

Caliphornia snatched the last-place prize from Mississippi, which had the highest poverty rate under the older and simpler measure, which gauged people's ability to buy basic services and goods.

Democratic Caliphornia Gov. Gerry Brown's office did not release a comment Nov. 15 about the new ranking, but did note that he would be attending a housing conference, the "Greenbuild International Conference and Expo," in San Francisco Nov. 16.

#6  The new measure, dubbed the “Supplemental Poverty Measure,” revised the CaliforniaÂ’s poverty rate from 16.3 percent up to 23.5 percent.

For comparison purposes, Azerbaijan has gone from a 50% poverty rate in 1991 to 16% today.

#5  Good place to start would be to confiscate and liquidate all wealth and assets in and relating to the movie industry.

Some folksie talking points for justification:
-Creates rich people who, by basically being paid to talk and walk, do not deserve their money.

-The electricity needed to power the industry is destroying the planet

-The increasing use of computer graphics proves that the heartless owners do not care about American jobs, instead sending programming work overseas.

-The amount of drugs used in the industry could be redistributed to the rest of California each and every first of the month.

-Every recent movie is a remake. Its time to have fresh ideas, and it is racist against Bollywood and China Studios.

-The lots could be converted into a community organic barter/trade garden, complete with koy ponds, fair trade wind power smart phone chargers and internet access, an effort to re-introduce animals which were murdered by primitive bain-style thinking such as the saber-toothed cat, and numerous state statues.

-The movie industry is a political rival of Sacremento. If the MI leaders had their way they would close schools and eliminate public transportation so you would be forced to sit in their theatres all day long paying sixty dollars for a drink and a popcorn. Eliminate them before they get you.

#4  So if Bill Gates moved to my neighborhood the poverty rate would hit 99.9% instantly.

#2  Sounds like grounds for taxing Hollywood at 75%.

#1  So let me understyand this: poverty is no longer based on not earning enough money to pay for the basics in life -- but instead its how much the poorest 1/3 make compared to the wealthiest?

Socialist class warfare anyone?
