Krauthammer: Obama showed 'incredible arrogance' in 'astonishing' press conference
2013-01-02
[Daily Caller] "I found it astonishing," Krauthammer said. "Here he is -- coming out to speak to the nation at a crucial moment in very delicate negotiations -- and he comes out there with incredible arrogance. He ridicules the Congress. He spikes the football on the Republicans. He rubs in the fact that they were resisting a raise in rates and he made them do it. And of course, as always, he places himself hovering benignly at an Olympian level above the fray, where the children are playing in the sandbox, and he is asking that everybody be reasonable, as if he just arrived in Washington on a tourist visa."

Krauthammer said Obama is intent on going over the fiscal cliff.

"And then he goes into detail, where he basically says I'm giving the Republicans zero on spending, and I mean zero -- not even discretionary spending," Krauthammer said. "If there are any spending cuts in the future, there is going to have to be an increase -- a further increase in taxes on the rich. Of course, it's always millionaires that will balance out those spending cuts. He laid out a radically oppositionist position, gleefully. And I think he wants to go over the cliff, and dare the Republicans to take the blame."

#15  BTW, I never, in my bleakest days, ever thought I would have to say something like the above. I hope my service, USAF, has leadership within itself to stand with the citizenry....

#14  As I watch our inverted spiral, all that gives me hope is our Military (eventually) coming to the defense of our nation....

#13  Has anybody got a plan?

Yes, Obama and his marxist allies. And they are not hesitant to implement the plan on you and I (at the moment).

The evil that America has always fought against by generations past, is now being embraced by people in America, and many of those people that are within the walls of the fortress are NOT documented American citizens.

#12  Just an FYI for those who still don't get it.

DickTater O is pattering himself after Suharto and Mao mostly.

He "can do more" after he's elected, which he just was, so....

#10  Johnson was a gentleman? You could have fooled me. So far as I could ever tell, there are no gentlemen among the Democrats and precious few among the Republicans. They are all a bunch of crooks. My proof is our current situation. If there was any honor among any of these people we would not be in this mess.

#9  As much as I can't stand Obama, I have to give it to him for playing a damn good game. He does seem to get what he wants. I'm terrified how that will go over on gun control. He's shown how ineffective, lethargic, and powerless our party has become. Hopefully, others will see this too and vote out the life-legacy incumbents and vote in new, hungrier representatives.

I think we've seen the end of the Johnson/Nixon-era 'gentlemen' politics. Chicago rules seem to be working better. I hope we can learn to play the new game sooner than later.

#8  The incredible arrogance we have come to expect.

#7  "I sought for the key to the greatness and genius of America in her harbors...; in her fertile fields and boundless forests; in her rich mines and vast world commerce; in her public school system and institutions of learning. I sought for it in her democratic Congress and in her matchless Constitution.
Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power.

America is great because America is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great." - (Alexis de Tocqueville - from Democracy in America)

#6  Problem is, once you lose a country like this, the populace is too stupid to ever get it back again.

This place is toast, Man. Shame to say it.
They best stay out of my way from here on out.

#5  He may be arrogant but he is justified in it. His team (including media and academia) has put the Republicans in a no-win situation. It took decades of polarization and demonization of the right to finally get the center to go 'progressive'. Of course free stuff to millions and self-destructive stupidity by big chunks of Republicans did help him.
I think it's the natural circular 'progression' of cultures, from tyranny to revolution to liberty to prosperity to apathy to dependency back to tyranny. I figure we're in the apathy/dependency area now.

#4  And the Trunks just keep taking it.

Can't somebody figure out how to turn it around, using the media?

Has anybody got a plan?

#2  I didn't find it "astonishing" at all. I doubt The Hammer did either actually.
