Ayutla de los Libres in Guerrero state was ground zero for the armed leftist movements in the 1970s and 1990s, and the indigenous villagers in the municipality there have formed their own self defense groups to clear their municipality of organized crime. It is illegal for them to have guns. But there they are armed to the teeth, sporting balaclavas in a bid to bring peace to their communities |
