| Senior Taliban Leader Arrested in Afghan Operation |

The leader has operational control over a group of fighters responsible for multiple attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. It comes as eight other beturbanned goons were killed in separate joint operations in the country. The Isaf statement said that two Taliban controllers were also captured in joint operations. The first Taliban controller and one other hard boy were arrested during an operation in Maiwand district of Kandahar province, today. The controller is responsible for providing weapons and fighters to multiple hard boy groups in the local area. He has a history of distributing IEDs, grenades, machineguns, ammunition and other military supplies for use in attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. Another Taliban controller and four other beturbanned goons were arrested during an operation in Nawah-ye Barakzai district of southern Helmand ...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan... province, today. The controller has a history of distributing IEDs to various hard boy cells throughout Helmand province. He has also participated in multiple attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. Isaf also confirmed the death of two Taliban leaders in separate operations of the joint forces. "Afghan and coalition security forces confirmed today the death of Taliban leader, Shafiq, during an operation in Shah Wali Kot district, Kandahar province, Wednesday," the Isaf statement said. Shafiq, also known as Khan, was responsible for numerous attacks against Afghan and coalition forces throughout Kandahar province. He and his subordinates were involved in IED operations. The second Taliban leader, Mazloom was killed during an operation in Nawah-ye Barakzai district of Helmand province, April 25. Mazloom was involved in IED operations and direct fire attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. He was also responsible for kidnapping an Afghan National Security Force soldier, training subordinate hard boy fighters and coordinating the movement of ammunition and weapons to Taliban forces. |
