"An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a senior Taliban leader and one other hard boy during an operation in Khugyani district, Nangarhar province, today," Isaf said in a statement.

The leader is responsible for a wide range of hard boy activities in Khugyani district. He has planned and directed liquidations against government officials, conducted multiple attacks targeting Afghan and coalition forces, and has facilitated the movement of money, weapons and hard boy fighters throughout the local area, it said.

The statement also said that Afghan and coalition security forces confirmed today the arrest of a senior hard boy leader with ties to both the Taliban and the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan during an operation in Burkah district, Baghlan province, yesterday.

The leader has operational control over a group of fighters responsible for multiple attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.

It comes as eight other beturbanned goons were killed in separate joint operations in the country. The Isaf statement said that two Taliban controllers were also captured in joint operations.

The first Taliban controller and one other hard boy were arrested during an operation in Maiwand district of Kandahar province, today.

The controller is responsible for providing weapons and fighters to multiple hard boy groups in the local area. He has a history of distributing IEDs, grenades, machineguns, ammunition and other military supplies for use in attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.
